Perimeter Forest was at the 2024 Carbon Forward Conference

Perimeter Forest was honoured to have participated and sponsored the First Carbon Forward Conference in Toronto last month.

The beautiful Art Gallery of Ontario witnessed the Carbon Community, regional and international, connecting and learning from each other.

Daniel Andres, Our Chief Of Climate & Biodiversity Operations, participated in the panel “Seeing Nature-based Solutions through the trees”.

Daniel delivered such an insightful and inspiring message about protecting and restoring our natural environment, and how carbon and biodiversity markets can drive real environmental benefits!

In essence, Daniel’s talk outlined the state of affairs for our economy and nature and the solution, as he sees it, namely, that so long as Nature’s destruction is more profitable than her protection and restoration, our environmental calamity will be bound to get worse.

Furthermore, without sufficient natural spaces held in reserve, we will have no prospect of recovery and restoration and we will lose one of our greatest allies in the fight against climate change.

Through a series of interconnected personal stories, Daniel highlighted quite successfully that in order to reverse nature’s destruction, we need economic incentives to make Nature recovery and protection profitable. And key is that we stack the benefits of protecting intact ecosystems and restoration projects across time. In other words, the conservation vs. restoration and carbon removals vs. avoided emissions debate is misplaced – we need to be doing all of the above.
